What’s Cooking?
L.O.H. is creating a custom cookbook featuring favorite recipes from our Chapter Members! Thanks to the suggestion of Deb Leblanc, we will be professionally publishing our recipes as a new, FUN! Chapter fundraiser. The cookbooks are sure to be a treasured keepsake for us all, as well as the friends and family who we purchase them for (or who buy them!!). Even though we will be selling our cookbooks to Chapter and Non-Chapter Members, recipes can only be contributed by North Hampton NH Seacoast HOG #2805 Chapter Members (remember, ANY member – male or female – can submit a recipe).
Let’s get started!
Please submit 3 – 10 of your favorite recipes so we can fill our cookbook up with a large number our diverse & delicious dishes! We are looking for recipes in the following categories:
- Appetizers & Beverages
- Soups & Salads
- Vegetables & Side Dishes
- Main Dishes
- Breads & Rolls
- Desserts
- Cookies & Candy
- This & That
Recipe Writing Tips
Please review the RecipeWritingTips. This is a guide to ensure we all submit our recipes in a uniform, commonly accepted format. Please heed the instructions on this guide. If any interpretation is needed on your recipe, your recipe will either be edited with a “best guess” (which may or may not be what you intended) or completely disregarded. L.O.H. will have copies of these forms to hand out at the July, August, and September Chapter meetings, L.O.H. meetings.
Ways to Submit
**Please disregard the text in the bottom right of the Recipe Collection Sheet template.
1.) At the July, August, and September Chapter meetings, and L.O.H. meetings, L.O.H. will have Recipe Collection Sheets to hand out. Review the Instructions in the top right of the sheet, then copy your recipe to the left side of the sheet. Please copy one recipe per sheet. Turn in your Recipe Collection sheets to any L.O.H. member.
2.) To get started right away, Download and print your own RecipeCollection sheets. Review the Instructions in the top right of the sheet, then copy your recipe to the left side of the sheet. Please copy one recipe per sheet. Depending on your version of your PDF software, you may be able to edit the PDF version directly, or convert the PDF file into a Word Document to type your recipe instead of hand write it. Turn in your Recipe Collection sheets to any L.O.H. member.
3.) There is a way to enter recipes directly online. If you are comfortable doing this, please contact me (Allison Alper) and I will provide you instructions on how to do so.
Additions to Recipe Submissions
Depending on cost, we may include special symbols to recipes they apply to. Please review the recSymbolSheet PDF to view the available symbols. If you feel a symbol applies to any of your recipes, please include the symbol name on your Recipe Collection Sheet.
Depending on cost, we may include additional stories about the recipes our members submit. If you have a personal story, memory, or note that applies to any of your recipes, please include the story with your Recipe Collection Sheet. We look forward to reading these and hope we can incorporate some!
Deadlines for Recipe Submissions
Please submit your Recipe Collection Sheets to any L.O.H. member or by scanning and emailing them to SeacoastLOH@gmail.com ASAP! The sooner we have your recipes, the sooner we’re able to start designing our cookbook and estimating the cost. Submissions will be accepted through FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st.
Pre-Orders/Orders/Delivery
Pre-orders for our Chapter Cookbook will start as soon as the August Chapter Meeting. L.O.H. will continue to accept pre-orders through the September L.O.H. Meeting. Cost will remain unknown until all recipes are collected.
Orders will be finalized at the October Chapter and L.O.H. Meetings. Payment will be due at this time.
Delivery of our cookbooks will be in early December.
Finally, we will be having a Recipe Test Taste in the early fall so that we can preview some of the recipes that will be included in our Chapter Cookbook. Stay tuned!
If you have any questions, please contact me, Allison Alper, your L.O.H. Officer, at seacoastloh@gmail.com, by phone or text at 760-533-4120, or on Facebook. I can’t wait to see the spectrum of recipes we receive! Thank you!
